Electric Mobility Scooters – The Low Cost, Pollution-Free Way to Travel

At a time in history when fuel-powered motoring is both astronomically expensive and known to be environmentally damaging, it’s little wonder that electric modes of transport are increasingly seen as the way to go.

The age of electric is well and truly upon us!

Global emission targets now mean the complete end to the production of petrol cars by the end of the decade. And drivers across the globe are embracing the grand plan. Where once motorists might have regarded electric vehicles as a poor substitute for gas-guzzling cars, nowadays increasing numbers of people drive Teslas and Toyota Prius’s as status symbols.

As far as electric scooters are concerned, they are no longer seen as the domain of older people. Go to any big city today and the younger generation can be seen tearing about on them. Wheels with street cred – albeit the two-wheeled versions! But even so….

Clearly, the direction of travel is all pointing towards an electric, battery-powered future.

What are the benefits of Electric Mobility Scooters?

If you’ve reached a stage where driving a car or riding a bike is no longer an option – for whatever reason – then an electric scooter will keep you on the move and help you retain your independence. There’s no need to feel cut off! Confinement at home, especially when it isn’t necessary, is something to avoid if at all possible.

A walker or rollator can do only so much. If you truly want to get and about, to pop to the shops, enjoy a social life and see the grandchildren more often, beyond the limitations of your own four walls, then an electric mobility scooter is an ideal mode of transport.

Physical safety
If you are prone to falls, whilst walkers have their place, there’s only so much they can do. With a mobility scooter, you don’t have to push your physical limits to the same extent or risk injury through a fall. An electric scooter is a brilliant piece of mobility equipment. It will enable you to retain energy and, if you are recovering after an injury, help speed up the recovery period. Take in the fresh air and let the scooter take the strain!

Ease of Use
Four-wheeled, battery-operated mobility scooters are easy to manoeuvre. They are perfect for getting around town, on roads or pavements.
The controls are simple to master and you’ll travel at anything between 4 and 10mph. With double-disc break systems and emergency break locks to stop any roll-back on uphill gradients, you’ll feel completely safe and in control. And, with comfortable deep seat and armrests, you can enjoy optimum comfort throughout your journey.

Electric mobility scooters are also generally lightweight and foldaway. It is this compactness which makes them easily transportable.

When you return home, they can be folded away for storage. Simply power up the battery and you’ll be ready to go the next day. In fact, keeping the battery fully charged is really the most important thing to remember.

What is the normal range for an electric scooter?

Your scooter should be able to comfortably travel between 10 and 15 miles before the batteries will need recharging. The distance will depend to some extent on the terrain, the passenger’s weight and the condition of the battery or batteries.

How long does it take to recharge an electric scooter battery?

Generally, when a battery has been fully drained, it should take between 7 and 10 hours to recharge. We recommend that this is done overnight, or directly after you return home from your trip.

Kind on your pocket, kind on the environment

Forget about petrol and all those unwanted carbon emissions. Forget about the unwatering price for a gallon of unleaded. If you would prefer a low-cost travel experience, where you can definitely say you won’t be polluting the atmosphere, an electric scooter wins hands-down! Plus, they are extremely cheap to run. Each time you recharge your batteries it will cost you around 10p. Compare that to a litre of unleaded petrol!

There has never been a better time to consider an electric mobility scooter. Whether you are out shopping or want to spend more time with family and friends, having your own electric mobility scooter to hand can be a life-enhancing experience. You’ll have your freedom back!
